How To Repair Cracked Patio Concrete

Repairing a crack in patio concrete will require a couple of steps. First
you'll need to fill the cracks with epoxy and afterwards you'll need to
resurface your patio with a thin layer of concrete. This doesn't always work
however. Usually cracks occur in concrete because the rebar reinforcement rods
were installed incorrectly or not at all. If your patio has many cracks and
has shifted so it's not level any longer you may be smarter in removing it
completely and starting from scratch with a new concrete patio. Before you begin, make sure it's a relatively cool day, with no rain in the forecast. The first step in repairing a crack in your concrete patio is to clean the surface of the entire patio. You'll need to apply a acid cleaning agent such as phosphoric acid. |

This will clean the surface, leaving a rough surface so the new concrete can adhere easier. (This is only necessary if you plan on applying a layer of concrete over the patched cracks).
Next, you'll need to fill the cracks with epoxy. Using a caulk gun, insert the epoxy tube. Apply to the concrete cracks by injecting it into them as deeply as possible. Wipe off any excess. Make sure you allow the cracked areas ample time to dry. Once it's dry, take a look at your work. If the cracks are repaired to your satisfaction, then your done. If not, you need to take it a step further. OK, the final step is to apply a thin coat of concrete over the entire patio area. Don't go crazy with the concrete - it only needs to be a thin layer. Make sure it's smooth and even and allow it plenty of time to cure.
Hopefully this will solve your problem, for the time being
anyway. If you encounter additional cracks in the concrete patio at a later time
you need to consider replacing the entire patio.
