At some point when you're laying carpet there will
be an area where two pieces of carpet will need joined at the seam. Making a
seam in carpet can be tricky. Below are some do it yourself instructions: 1. You need to cut the carpet so it will overlap 4" or 5". The carpet pile needs to be running the same for both pieces. 2. With the carpet overlapped, you need to make a cut through both pieces of the carpet at the same time. Make a clean cut between the rows. This way you're guaranteed the sides will match evenly. 3. Apply a strip of seaming tape with the sticky, adhesive side up on the floor where the carpet is to be joined. 4. Using the tape manufacturers instructions, us a seaming iron to bond the seaming tape. You'll be ironing it on top of the tape. 5. Seal the seam with a carpet roller. Tips: * Try to avoid making a seam near doorway
openings. |
