Douglas I. of Walla Walla, WA wrote: Dear DIY Today, I'm going to install a bathroom sink next month. This doesn't seem too complicated. Is there anything special I should know? You're right. Installing a bathroom sink is a relatively simple project. This is a general overview and there will be some variations as bathroom sinks vary. Start with the obvious - turn off the water supply leading to your existing bathroom sink. Turn on the knobs of the sink to make sure the water is not running. |

Using your locking pliers remove the large nut at
the top of the drain where it connects to the bathroom sink. These days the nut
is probably made of plastic but may be metal. Next you need to disconnect the water lines from the old sink. Using locking pliers gently loosen the connections and remove. Keep a towel handy to wipe up dripping water from the lines. Finally, if you plan on using it, remove the faucet assembly from the sink. Now remove the sink from the vanity. Remove the old sink base and
replace it with the new one and place the new sink into it. Next install the new
faucet assembly using new gaskets and seals. Reattach the drain and reconnect
the water lines. Check for leaks when turning on the water supply. Make sure you
have the hot and cold water running correctly. Periodically check for leaks.
