Dear DIY Today,

How do I clean a shower head to get it unclogged? The water pressure seems to be about half of what it used to be. Got any do it yourself ideas?

For most of us cleaning a shower head is a necessity once in a while. Mineral deposits collect inside the shower head and clog it. There are a couple of methods to clean and unclog a shower head:

Clean and unclog the shower head without removing it.

1. Fill a sandwich bag about 3 inched deep with pure vinegar.

2. Attach the filled bag to the clogged shower head using a large twist tie or a rubber band. Let it soak overnight.

3. Remove bag and use a pin or small wire to remove any lime or calcium deposits in the holes of the clogged shower head.

4. Finally, use a old toothbrush to remove any other buildup.

Clean and unclog the shower head by removing it.

1. Remove the clogged shower head carefully with a wrench, if needed.

2. Soak it in a solution of pure white vinegar.

3. Rinse the shower head and use a small wire or pin to clean any leftover mineral deposits out of the holes.

4. Reattach the shower head.
